Installation

The installation of the Mark III system is easy and quick. For the court wiring, TEL uses very thin flat cable of high quality. To install the cables a slot in the top layer of the hard court will be removed with a special tool. The width of the sensed zone depends on the type of system and can vary from 9 up to 35 inches. After the top layer has been removed, the flat cable will be glued and fixed and connected to the hardware which will be installed at the end of the court. The hardware units will be connected to the central computer which is located near the Chair Umpire's chair. The flat cable will come as a role at fixed length and the glue on one side of the cable will be protected by special paper that will be removed during installation. Each line will have its own set of flat cables, it is therefore not necessary to fold the cables as to create corners.

After the cables have been installed and connected to the hardware, testing will take place in order to detect any faults in the electronics and/or wiring. After testing, the slot will be filled according to the local standards and executed through the local court builder. The court lines will then be re-painted. A special electronic tool will be used in order to assure that the court lines are in line with the court wiring. The installation will be executed by the TEL installation team and should be executed within two or three days. When removing the slab of the sensed zone, the installation team will execute the job in co-ordination with the local court builder.
